The Prince of Wales Will Participate in COP30 Climate Summit in Brazil
Prince William plans to participate in the United Nations climate conference in Brazil next month, according to the royal household.
Prince William and King Charles made a joint appearance on Thursday night at a event preceding the environmental conference, which is set to be held in the Amazonian city of Belém.
Father and son were present at the museum gathering, marking an rare public appearance together at a climate summit preparatory event arranged together with the United Kingdom administration.
Climate Leadership Dedication
King Charles has been a long-time champion of biodiversity preservation - and Prince William has taken on the baton, with his own Earthshot awards, which will be hosted in Rio ahead of the UN meeting.
Official representatives have described Prince William's attendance at the upcoming climate summit as taking on an important role in "environmental negotiations".
Previous Activities
The monarch and his heir, arriving together in the official car, were welcomed guests including conservation experts, scientists, environmental activists, diplomats and government officials.
This participation included speaking alongside French leader Macron of the French Republic and other world leaders at the Blue Economy and Finance Forum in Monaco in recent months.
Environmental Prize Connection
The climate conference will align with the the royal's climate innovation prizes, which will finish in Rio de Janeiro the eve of he participates in the COP summit on 6 November.
In recent days the prince referred to the Earthshot finalists as "heroes of our time".
Royal Climate Legacy
King Charles has been a key figure at past COP meetings, providing the introductory remarks in the United Arab Emirates for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the observation: "We are custodians of the planet, not its owners".
"Throughout my life I've dedicated a significant amount of my life trying to warn of the critical dangers confronting humanity over planetary heating, environmental shifts and biodiversity loss," the King told participants.
